Emergency Art Shelter is a place designed to provide housing and studios for artists, musicians, architects, and other creators, who lost the opportunity to work in the times of war.

Taking as its reference the format of art residencies, the project will primarily focus on providing participants with the necessary conditions for recovery and recreation, as well as helping to return to the pre-war workflow.

ON SITUATION IN UKRAINE

On February 24, russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine and all of Europe.
Since then, the russian army is bombing Ukrainian cities and villages daily, destroying both civilian and military infrastructure. Meanwhile, russian president vladimir putin is terrorizing the world with nuclear weapons.

Every day dozens of innocent people are killed or injured in Ukraine.

Artists and cultural workers are no exception. They have a right to live, be safe and continue their work.

IDEA AND GOALS

The ammunition for the soldier is a tool for protection, the dugout is a shelter. The artist’s ammunition is their space for creativity, the weapon is their work. Thousands of artists from different parts of Ukraine had to leave their studios and homes by threatening their lives. They still carry their weapon, but fighting in the war against the occupiers without a secure place to be and work is meaningless, as well as sending the fighter into battle without a bulletproof vest.

Our goal is to protect artists behind the walls and bring their ammunition back. Our goal is to unite them in safe shelters in Ukraine and provide with the necessary conditions for work. The international media platforms are also a battlefield, and art is an important message that can influence the war course.

THE PROJECT IS CREATED BY

ФОРМА

ФОРМА is an independent office driven by research and experiments in architecture, whose approach is to work at the intersection of the disciplines. In a constant dialogue with specialists in theoretical and practical fields, the studio uses different forms for the projects, which vary from spatial development strategies, master plans, renovation programs, and buildings to books, interfaces, installations, and exhibitions. Dealing with constant changes in ecology, economy, political and social systems allows ФОРМА to think broadly and initiate cooperation for interdisciplinary growth.
